There is a world already built and there is another one where we have no idea what's going to come. On the other hand, innovators minds have been wonder how to make our world sustainable considering that humanity is responsible for so many damages that has impacted ours and the next generation lives.
Although there is no accurate answer here different initiatives across the globe has putting at the same table leaders who deal with social issues to think technologic and creative solutions to solve these problems locally such as garbage, climate change, inequalities like race and gender, poverty, accessibility and hunger.
I am honored to share that I am one of those and I had been chosen as a young leader of America Initiative or just a "ylaier". In fact, I applied for the program in 2019 but the big news came only in 2020. At first, all of us would travel to USA for an immersive experience with a host company to learn more how to improve ours own business. Besides, the program includes a mentorship with a expert who would help you in few topics that you had chosen, such as, finance, marketing, sell, network, etc. Lastly, we should end at a Conference that would happen in Washington D.C.
However, if you were on Earth in 2020 you probably remember what we went on, a worldwide pandemic crisis that made unfeasible the experience of spent time abroad. All of the 280 ylaiers got frustrated because we never had the chance to meet each other in person . While screen over screen turned the program entirely online, we tried develop strategies to take advantage of the content that was prepared for was.
Therefore, the programe happened and each activity was readapted because like they used to say "this is the new normal" so we finished the program anyways.
Although, brazilian ylaiers were so insistent that American Embassy in Brazil started to consider to create an event where we could meet the group in person. At the end of the day we received the information that despite we didn't get the opportunity to travel to US we had an amazing news that we'd finally get together in the same room.
The Conference happened in the Northeast of Brazil, in Recife, which was even better because we got the chance of network in a State where is expanding in terms of technology. All of the Conference was about encourage us to be creative, sensitive, brave, resilient and executors of our dreams as entrepreneurs.
The 17 brazilian young leaders who came from different part of Brazil could got into a bit of the culture of people who have a beautiful accent beyond do a walk tour around the historic center and believe me, eat a lot of traditional delicious food. Also we visited a few tech organizations, Frevo museum and we went to vulnerable neighborhood, in a village where people have low support from the government which makes them organizes their own needs over the fishing and shellfish.
Recife is pretty much political so is common you see music, food and conversation going on all together. The capital of Pernambuco is hot but also have warm people who are more than ready to have us with a big smile and a hug. Of course they face the same contradiction of the big cities in terms of inequalities but solvers are out there as well.
All of the experience took 04 days but it was so intense and inspiring that got us energy to come back home with a lot of ideas up in our minds because although we cannot guarantee that we are going to fix all of the problems of world we can start from our own world.
