The fear of growth

Each of us at some point in our lives had a second thought about being able to #grow. We, as human beings, necessarily behave based on what we have already learned from other people. Therefore, it is likely that we will perform in life the way we have been taught.

In fact, I couldn't consider this conversation without adding gender and race because when people make us reconsider our ability to create another reality outside of #systemicracism and sexism by asking us "Are you sure about this?", "I don't think this is a good idea" , "don't go there because your profile doesn't fit" and we internalize these things, we can freeze and let fear interfere with our results.

How can I overcome these thoughts already programmed into my #mind then? Well, at least for me, since I decided to come back to my #journey and pursue the most ambitious dreams, of my life I had to first do it mentally repeating over and over again that if I want it with all my heart, I got it.

It takes time to reprogram our minds, mainly because most of us, #blackwomen, have already gone through trauma and doubts about our sagacity to go further than society reserves us, because unfortunately there are only few of us in some positions out there, which makes us feel overwhelmed even when we reach these positions.

Additionally, I would consider taking a look around you to make sure the people who you have close are actually helping you move forward or taking you down. Despite we are the ones who have to take responsibility for our #growth, being around people who join your path rather than compete against you, is crucial.

Last but not least, remember that taking one step beyond the other is better than making no move at all. If you froze, please, ask for help. If you have a second thought about you, be kind to yourself and get #backontrack as soon as you can.

I cross my fingers for you!
